A York Alumni Love Story: Connor & Molly

A shared love of theatre and the creative arts brought this couple to the University of York, where a first lecture blossomed into friendship and, eventually, a lifelong romance. From karaoke nights to a wedding in the very city where their story began.

“Great minds think alike, and that could not be truer when it comes to our choice of university. Connor and I both share a deep love of theatre and the creative arts, which led us to select the University of York as our top choice. We met during our very first lecture and instantly became the best of friends.

Over the next few months, we spent countless hours studying together, binge-watching Ru Paul’s Drag Race, and even hitting up the infamous Karaoke Fridays at the Glasshouse for a few cheeky pints.

As Christmas approached, our friendship blossomed into something more. We fell head over heels in love, met each other’s families, and I knew I had found my future husband. The next three years in York were the happiest of our lives, as we made the most of our time in the city we’ve grown to love.

After graduating, we took the leap and moved down to London to launch our theatre careers. Unfortunately, the pandemic had other plans, and the stages went dark. But through it all, our bond only grew stronger. We retrained for new careers and are now living our dream jobs.

We’ve even become proud doggy parents to our pup Beanie, who turns 4 in January. And in the ultimate act of serendipity, we recently eloped in the city that brought us together – York – tying the knot on May 11th 2024.”
